HAPPY EASTER AND LIVE LIKE YOU ARE DYING

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

I have two weeks of school left!!!! I included one of my classroom post. We are required to post 10/week. Anyway....... we were discussing what we would do if were told we had a terminal disease. The majority of the class said they would do nothing differently. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

My response:

I believe the truth sets us all free!!! My mother was in end-stage Alzheimer and I could not let her go. Until a hospice nurse sat me down and had a truthful talk with me. She told me to go tell my mother that it is OK to die. Two days later my mother died at peace in her sleep. I do think I would live my life differently if I knew I was terminal. Sad to say but true! I don't know if any of you listen to country music, but one song talks about the doctors telling a man that he was dying and the song goes on to say, "I went sky diving, Rocky Mountain climbing, I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Phumansue (spell?). I hope that someday you'll get the chance to live like you were dying." (Can't remember the name of the singer) I would quit school, spend time with my husband, children, grandchildren, 94 year-old aunt and family, I would paint the collection that I have always wanted to paint, learn to deep-sea dive, learn to play a guitar, and sing really loud everyday, (even though I can't really sing) I would lay on the beach for days, sleep in the forest for days and nights, I would give deep long hugs to the people I really love and tell those people that I don't like to kiss my ass. I would live like I were dying.

That is Tim McGraw's song and it's a fantastic song. Garrison & I sing it wide open in the car and try to hold the long part as much as Tim does!! Fun!! Yep! The message is a terrific one!! I want my hug too!!
